Bone Density Screening
Osteoporosis is a disease characterized by low bone density leading to an
increase in risk for fracture. There are several risk factors noted by the National
Osteoporosis Foundation that contribute to thinning bones. These can include
a thin build, smoking, too little calcium in your diet, excessive alcoholic or
caffeinated beverages and a family history of the disease.
This disease is most easily detected in its early phase by a bone density exam.
This simple test takes only a few minutes; you don't even have to undress for this low dose
x-ray as an arm scans your body while lying on a table. Brielle Obstetrics & Gynecology recognizes the importance of this test and have purchased a state-of-the-art densitometer for accurate digital readings performed right here in our office. You may have the convenience scheduling your annual exam with your physician and completing your bone dexa scan at the same time.
Essure - Permanent Birth Control
Essure is a non-incisional procedure for female permanent birth control that is an alternative to surgical tubal ligation. Unlike surgical tubal ligation, the most popular form of birth control, the Essure procedure takes about 45 minutes to complete, does not require cutting or penetration of the abdomen and can be performed without general anesthesia. Essure provides a woman with a more convenient option that does not cause a significant disruption of family or work, with most women returning to their daily routines within a day.
